“Anyone Can Learn to Oil Paint” — 12-week Oil Painting Series
Have you always wanted to try oil painting? Instructor Anita Hampton believes anyone can paint and she’s ready to prove it. In three one-month sessions, you’ll learn to use materials and practice the essential skills of oil painting. Designed to be taken as a series or one month at a time, students will paint still life set-ups while learning color theory, value, perspective, lighting, design, composition, and more.
With decades of experience as a plein air painter, lifelong learner, and respected teacher, Hampton fills her classes with light-hearted learning and powerful principles to get you painting with confidence and joy.
SESSION 1 : The Basics - Tools and Principles
Learn how to use, clean, and store all of your materials. This session covers the basics of color theory and mixing, forms, basic perspective, and lighting.
SESSION 2 : Beyond Basics - Painting on Purpose
Take the next step by learning how to compose and plan paintings by applying the principles of color, value, dimension, form, and design.
SESSION 3 : Creativity & Composition
Learn and practice perspective, dynamic design, movement, and color harmony, you'll begin to see the world through the eyes of an artist.
A materials list will be provided upon registration.
