FREE, informal and open to the public. Meet in the activity room of Art Center Morro Bay. Bring your art work, in any medium, and join others working in various mediums. Bring your lunch and stay for the whole time, or come and go as it works for you. No pre registration needed.

Morro Bay Art Association is very excited to host watercolor classes designed for artists, beginner to advanced. Classes will be ongoing throughout the year, featuring a variety of guest instructors.
California, Central Coast resident, Jan French is a gifted artist who has taught watercolor classes in a stress free and methodical environment.
Jan fuses a relationship between the subject, the paint, and her interpretation thereof. Jan says, It's a glorious feeling when we all get along. I strive to combine classical discipline with the fluidity that comes from allowing the paint to express itself.” "International Headquarters" of JanFrench.com are located in a studio in Los Osos, California (on the coast near Morro Bay).
Jan studied at Pasadena City College, Mt. San Antonio Jr. College, New Mexico State University, and University of Texas El Paso. Independent study with: George Gibson, Don O'Neill, Jan Kunz, Art VanRhyn, and Ted Harpainter, among others.
Jan continues “I have created my own curriculum over the years, following a consistent path toward learning the thinking behind the California Impressionists of the late 1800s, with the goal of reaching the essence of their vision so as to avoid formulaic imitation.”

Avocado and Margarita Festival Earrings

Come make awesome avocado or margarita glass earrings between 10:00 - 12:00. They are super simple to make and perfect for any age. You'll trace the images onto shrink plastic, color them with markers and bake them for a couple of minutes. You'll add fish hook earring wires and you're done ALL in less than 1/2 hour.

California Central Coast resident Kathy Miller is an award-winning artist that has had her work shown in group and solo exhibitions throughout the State. Well-known for her impressionistic watercolors of nature and local environs, she enjoys traveling in pursuit of new vistas to conquer. Primarily self-taught, this artist began her career as a young adult. Workshops from well- known artists continue to inspire her as well. Over the years she has expanded her knowledge and creativity and continues to experiment with how to use the watercolor medium to express her view of the world around us. Finding beauty in everyday surroundings and transforming them into her own vision continues to be a lifelong quest.

Morro Bay Art Association is very excited to host watercolor classes designed for artists, beginner to advanced. Classes will be ongoing throughout the year, featuring a variety of guest instructors.

Virginia Mack is a native Californian. She has been exploring and savoring the wild lands of the state throughout her life. She has been living on the Central Coast for 10 years. She is a part-time instructor at both Allan Hancock College and Cuesta College in the fine arts departments.
Virginia, along with her late husband John, also an artist, has spent endless hours exploring the back roads of San Luis Obispo County seeking those bits of landscape that are visually stimulating. Virginia works primarily in watercolors and mixed media and is a colorist at heart. She builds most of her pieces in a wet-on-wet process (wet watercolor paints on wet watercolor paper) resolving the pieces as the paper slowly dries. She creates the forms with rich colors that she plays off against contrasting colors thereby subduing them while preserving their presence in layers of color. She often mixes the watercolor process with work using colored pencils, pastel, charcoal, and pencil.
Virginia received her education in fine arts at the University of California, Berkeley. She has taken additional classes at The California College of Arts and Crafts and in independent workshops.
