»    First, we’ll visit the Wilding Museum where art and nature meet.
Since opening in 2000, the Wildling has hosted and/or organized over 65 exhibitions.  They have shared the awe-inspiring works of giants like Ansel Adams, Georgia O’Keeffe, Maynard Dixon, Carl Oscar Borg, and so many more.  Their exhibitions have surveyed the early history of wilderness art and showcased contemporary artists like Clyde Butcher, dedicated to bringing awareness to specific wilderness areas.
The first floor of the gallery often features larger shows. The second-floor gallery, known as the Valley Oak Gallery, is dedicated to telling stories of the tri-county area (Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo).  A permanent feature of the gallery is a marvelous wall mural executed by local artist John Iwerks.  The third floor, the Barbara Goodall Education Center, regularly features rotating community art shows by school groups, senior residence facilities, fellow art organizations, junior photography exhibitions and more. We will meet a museum docent who will give us the interesting details of the museum before we explore.
»     Then we’ll have free time to enjoy the quaint village of Solvang where you can have a lovely lunch and bring home some decadently delicious Danish pastries.
»     Finally, it’s off to the Elverhoj History & Art Museum.
The Elverhøj Museum is the former residence of one of Solvang’s most artistic families, which is now a community museum devoted to the history of Solvang, the Danish-American pioneer spirit, the colorful heritage of Denmark, and the arts.
The historic hand-crafted structure was the dream home of Viggo Brandt-Erichsen and his wife, Martha Mott. He was an internationally recognized painter and sculptor and she was an accomplished painter and art teacher. In 1950 the Brandt-Erichsens began building their home in the style derived from the large farmhouses of 18th century Jutland in northern Denmark. They incorporated many elements of Scandinavian architecture. Our tour guide will tell us about the interesting history and art of this magnificent home.
