July 9, 2020 – Clay for a Day, Children’s Art
Morro Bay Art Association is proud to present Clay for a Day, in an ongoing children’s summer art series with elementary school teacher, Mandy Covish and Middle School teacher Raquel Meinke.
Students will work with clay using two different techniques. The first project will begin with a clay slab. Students will roll out clay forming shapes. These shapes will be formed into a mold and decorated with different textures by scratching and pressing various objects into the clay.
The second project will be made using the pinch pot technique. Students will create a pinch pot in the shape of an animal and add textures for decoration.
Mandy taught primarily 2nd and 3rd grade levels in the Merced City School District and Clovis Unified School district. With her recent relocation to the Central Coast she is eager to begin teaching on the Central Coast. Raquel is currently an art teacher at Los Osos Middle School.
