The Inaugural Morro Bay Plein Air Festival welcomes painters and visitors to Morro Bay, California to capture and explore the town’s charming downtown, Embarcadero, ocean views, bay and harbor scenery, and surrounding mountain vistas. Artists from around the country will gather in this quaint seaside destination for a plein air demonstration, workshop, Paint Out, Quick Draw competition, VIP Party, Live and Silent art auctions, and special “meet and greet”with international plein air artist, Guido Frick. Visitors will find painters at several on site locations around the city to watch as their paintings take shape then head to the Inn at Morro Bay for a Quick Draw competition, Live and Silent Auctions. Also available for purchase is a 2-day plein air workshop with international plein air artist, Guido Frick and a VIP Party at the Inn at Morro Bay.

This Festival is made possible by Morro Bay Art Association, Morro Bay Tourism, and Inn at Morro Bay.

General Registration includes Non-Juried Paint Out, $40. Non-Members, or $35. MBAA Members
Artist general registration includes personal listing in Festival booklet, Paint Out for one person, welcome continental breakfast for artist and 1 guest.

VIP party ticket, plus eligibility for cash awards, ribbons and door prizes.
Discount on 1 VIP Party ticket for artist guest is an additional  $15.00 fee.

For painters who wish to paint more and submit an additional painting, please add $10. fee.  Painters may have up to 3 canvas or papers stamped.  With regular registration (1) painting may be submitted, with additional fee, (2) paintings may be submitted.

PAINT OUT ARTISTS, Please print  Registration Form and return to Art Center Morro Bay before or at time of check in.

Check-in will be from 8-10am, Thursday April 16th at Art Center Morro Bay, 835 Main St., Morro Bay, CA 93442. Artists must have their canvas or art paper stamped. Pick up your swag bag, enjoy a continental breakfast and go to your pre-chosen location.

Set-Up – Artists go to their pre chosen location to paint.  Painting ends promptly at 2pm.

Locations for the Paint Out competition will be your choice of Tidelands Park, Coleman Park, Art Center Morro Bay Patio, Inn at Morro Bay Patio (front or rear), or Dorn’s Restaurant (front patio). See Map page for locations.

Stop: All artists must stop painting at 2pm and take their framed wet painting, to Inn at Morro Bay, located at 60 State Park Rd, Morro Bay, CA 93442 (805) 772-5651. All finished artwork will be for sale at a silent auction, during and after the VIP Party. A 25% commission will be retained by Art Center Morro Bay. Artists retain 75% of the sales price.
