FREE LINOCUT PRINTMAKING DEMONSTRATION
The Morro Bay Art Association proudly presents a free linocut printmaking demonstration by local artist Liz Lucas.
Linocut is a relief printmaking that starts with carving a design on a block of rubber or linoleum. The block is then inked and pressed onto paper to reveal the final image. Liz has been practicing various art techniques throughout her life. She has been solely focusing on linocut for the last two years because of its bold graphic qualities and ability to play with color. She plans to talk briefly about the history of relief printmaking, and then demonstrate the carving and printmaking process. Attendees will then be offered the opportunity to create their own linocut print. She will also be describing the steps from art beginnings to art sales.
Her work can be seen at Morro Made, Making SLO, at local Makers’ Marts around the Central Coast, and on her Instagram page @theverdantstudio.
